The Blue Mountains are an exceptional part of Australia, boasting velvet peaks and valleys, and a hearty dose of wildlife and stunning views. Our Blue Mountains tour, Sydney, gives you the chance to explore every corner of this majestic landscape.
Wildlife Spotting at the Nepean River
The day begins with some wildlife spotting, where you can catch a glimpse of native kangaroos and colourful cockatoos as they snuffle around in their natural habitats. You’ll get a drink and a snack while you watch, as well as beautiful views across the Nepean River.
Kings Tableland or Evans Lookout
Expose yourself to stunning panoramas across the landscape at Kings Tableland or Evans Lookout
– two of the best places to look out over the Blue Mountains. There’s no coach access to these spots, so they’re often peaceful and quiet.
Wentworth Falls
Next, we’ll take a walk to Wentworth Falls, a cascading waterfall that marks the point where the Jamison Creek tips over the escarpment. Afterwards, we’ll wander around Leura, a quaint village with plenty of shops and lunch spots.
Katoomba
The “capital” town of the Blue Mountains is next on our itinerary, where you’ll get to visit the magnificent sight of Katoomba Falls, one of the most popular waterfalls in the whole of the mountains.
Aboriginal History
As well as discovering some of Australia’s most mesmerising natural scenery, you’ll get to learn about the rich Aboriginal history that imbues the area, including the world-famous legend of the Three Sisters rock formation.
Scenic World
After a hearty dose of history, we’ll move on to Scenic World, where you can ride the world’s steepest railway and look down across the stunning expanse of the Jamison Valley below. There’s
also the option to ride the Scenic Skyway or the Cableway (at your own expense) to discover the landscape from several different perspectives.
The Dharuas and Homebush Bay
As the day begins to draw to a close, we’ll head to the Dharuas, where you can discover more about the Aboriginal rock engravings that have decorated the Blue Mountains for more than 22,000 years, before heading home via Homebush Bay – the setting of the 2000 Olympic Games.
Sydney Harbour
Once we’re back in Sydney, you can finish your incredible day with a trip up Sydney Harbour and a cruise along the picturesque Parramatta River. At the Circular Quay, your day of exploring the nature and fascinating history of the Blue Mountains comes to an end.
