Hunter Valley Gardens

Tucked away in the outskirts of Sydney region is the picturesque vineyards of Hunter Valley. Famed for their delightful wine varieties and five-star restaurants, Hunter Valley is perfect for those looking to relax and be pampered for their weekend away! However, an attraction one might overlook is the Hunter Valley Gardens. Home to more than 60 acres of well-manicured, themed gardens, and a variety of shops.

The Gardens

Spanning out 60 acres the garden is lush and unforgettable. With ten individual feature gardens decked out, each with its unique theme. Visitors can stroll along the 8 kilometres worth of trails soaking up the endless beauty featured about. There are thousands of plant varieties, with ancient trees, colourful flowers, and rare plants scattered about the region. Visitors can marvel at the 10-metre-high waterfall in the Sunken Garden, and even visit Storybook Garden to see their favourite fairy-tale characters peeking out from the bushes.

The Cafes

The Gardens aren’t the only thing on offer here, with the region home to a number of coffee shops. Perfect for when you want a hot drink to enjoy while wandering the garden. You can even tuck into some homemade goodies, with delicious savoury and sweets on offer!

The Restaurants

If you are looking for something more filling, why not head to one of the many award-winning restaurants. The Gardens has several dining options, offering stunning views of the gardens from their windows and terraces so you don’t miss out on the greenery will you eat! If you are after a livelier alternative, head to Harrigan’s Irish Pub for a hearty meal and a range of beers on tap!

The Shops

The region is bursting with shops, featuring homeware stores, gift shops, antique sellers, and even a couple galleries. Kids will love the British lolly shop, which offers delicious and traditional style treats, such as sherbets, toffee, and raspberry drops! If you prefer chocolate, you can even head to the nearby Hunter Valley Chocolate Company, for all the milk, dark, or white chocolate you can carry!

The Wineries

As Hunter Valley is predominantly a wine region, the Gardens are home to a couple of smaller wineries. These include the exclusive cellar doors from Mount Eyre, Polin & Polin, and Three Ponds wineries. Offering a range of their best wines, from whites, reds, roses, and even a couple sparkling. Guests can sample a bunch before deciding on their favourite to take home! If you aren’t much of a wine drinker and prefer the darker ales, Garden Cellars Tunnel of Beer, which offerings a wide collection of craft beer from across Australia and around the world.
