Muru Mittigar Aboriginal Cultural Centre
Located in Penrith near the base of the Blue Mountains, this institution was once a meeting place that acted as a focal point for local custodians. Now, the museum is dedicated to showing creative works and stories of the Dharug people, as well as many other indigenous
peoples around Australia. During the summer months the outdoor amphitheatre bursts to life in a flurry of dance and music, and there’s a quaint, on-site café to refuel in.
Waradah Aboriginal Centre
Set slap bang in the middle of the World Heritage Plaza, this colourful gallery doubles up as a shop. So, once you’ve browsed through the vibrant Aboriginal works you can pick up a souvenir or two to take home with you. There’s also a schedule of fun an informative shows throughout the day which offer a glimpse into Indigenous culture.
Blue Mountains Cultural Centre
This institution is an important pit-stop on any journey through the Blue Mountains as it provides a back story to the region. You’ll find a collection of interactive displays, wall projections, and sound installations, and the adjoining gallery hosts a range of local exhibitions throughout the year.
Falls Gallery
The small town of Wentworth Falls is tucked against the foot of the Blue Mountains and proffers some incredible views across Jamieson Valley. In the town itself you can pop into
the Falls Gallery which is considered to be one of the best privately run galleries in the area and showcases incredible art works amidst well-manicured gardens.
Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum
Famed artist and creative Norman Lindsay lived in the shadows of the Blue Mountains for his entire life. When he died, his home and studio were turned into a celebratory art gallery which exhibits a whole host of his paintings, sculptures, and stories.
