From the Cairns Marlin Marina, visitors can venture out to the world-famous Great Barrier Reef.
Cairns Marlin Marina |
One of the biggest attractions in Australia, and home to thousands of coral gardens and marine species. The Cairns Marlin Marina is where most boats begin their reef journey, starting for this unforgettable underwater adventure. It is a state-of-the-art floating marina sitting along the coast of Cairns, right by the heart of the city centre.
See the Great Barrier Reef
Cairns’ Marlin Marina offers socking for both small and larger boats, with small and large tours operating daily from the dock. Tours take the groups out to a range of reef spots, some heading to the deeper sections for scuba diving, others to popular snorkelling spots, and some to nearby tropical islands. The boats typically leave at around 8 am, heading back to the city just before sunset! Many of the tour operators use Marlin Jetty as their pick-up/drop-off point for all tourists. Many of the tours offered here offer to pick up and drop off options for the majority of the hotels nearby, but due to its close quarters to the city centre, a lot of guests can simply enjoy a morning walk to head to the marlin marina.
The Attractions Nearby
From the marina, you can enjoy an array of fantastic activities. The city’s waterslide park is nearby, including the swimming lagoon which is just a short walk away. Popular restaurants and shops are nearby so visitors can head straight from their reef exploration to a buzzing nightlife adventure!
Catch yourself some Dinner
You don’t have to head to the local restaurants for your dinner treat, but stay at the marina, which features the biggest fishing fleets around. Try your hand at catching some local fish or simply watch the pros at it while you marvel at the ocean view from the boardwalk.
Enjoy a Romantic Sunset
Cairns Marlin Marina offers a great backdrop for sunset! The wooden boardwalk has a number of berths you can set yourself up at, or simply watch the sunset setting as you slowly stroll along the coast. You can even take a cruise out, enjoying the platter of food offered and washing it down with a glass of complimentary sparkling wine, ending your day with this romantic setting.
