The highly anticipated musical The Book of Mormon comes to Australia this year, adding a touch of colourful culture to any Melbourne city tour. The play takes the title as one of the biggest Broadway shows of the millennium, giving locals and visitors the chance to see what all the hype is about.
Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the duo behind South Park and Team America, after collaborating with Robert Lopez, this eclectic show of satire has been presented all over the world to rave reviews.
What the Book of Mormon is About
The Book of Mormon is about two missionaries who find themselves sent from Salt Lake City to a remote Ugandan village where they preach to the people who live there. It is a religious satire that jokes around and pokes fun at the beliefs and systems of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years since it came out, it has won numerous awards and has been shown to enraptured crowds all over the world.
Not only does the musical features excellent satirical songs devised by the creators, but it will also showcase a fantastic set that shifts throughout the duration from the harsh blue of Salt Lake City to the brown and neutral tones of Uganda via the bright red of a Spooky Mormon Hell Dream. The musical comes to Melbourne on Feb 14th 2017 and continues its run right through until June, giving you plenty of chance to grab tickets and see this much-coveted play.
It will be showing at the Princess Theatre, which boasts a majestic 19thCentury façade with a beautiful interior.
